Back To School
I hate this time of year! Summer has come to an end and it’s back to school time for the kiddos. I’m not the mom that jumps for joy after the kids walk out the door for school. I adjust after a week or two, but those first few days are HARD. This year we have a junior in high school, 8th grader, 6th grader, 5th grader, 4th grader, 2nd grader, and #DdoubleP is home with me. They are growing up so quickly! How is my oldest 11? How does my husband have an almost 17 year old?? We are NOT that old….okay, Creg’s that old…I AM NOT! #29forlife
Last year, I finally gave in and let them start riding the bus to and from school. With 3 different schools, pickup was crazy. So far, we’ve made it to the bus every morning….3 for 3…..I’m calling that a win! I’m sure after the school newness wears off, I’ll be taking them to school so they can sleep in a bit longer. At least this year I’m only dropping at 2 different schools.
Getting Big
I take a front step first day picture every year (and a last day). The kids know the routine. I love being able to look back every year and see the how they grew from year to year. I also like seeing the change from first to last day. My Andrew has really matured in looks over the last year. Miss Morgan hasn’t changed much. She did her little maturing spurt in 2nd grade. I’m expecting little Julianne to go through some changes this year….she’s due for a spurt…..excuse me while I go wipe my tears……stop growing!!!!
The kids all got new backpacks this year. We’re just doing our part of strengthening the economy and keeping Under Armour in business. You can actually get Andrew’s here on Amazon for $5 less. I’m always looking to save a few! I’m counting on these lasting us a few years, too!
My Sweet Boys….well mostly sweet
Creg managed to capture this image as Andrew was boarding the bus for the first day. I’m holding this close to my heart. My boy still gives me hugs and kisses…in public! He’ll even hold my hand on occasion!! I know these moments are special. My girls don’t even do this anymore. Andrew still makes it a point to give me some love. All on his own! No prompting! He’s just a sweet kid! He’s going to make a great husband someday…….When he’s 30 and not a day sooner!
There’s this sweet baby boy, too! He loved seeing the big yellow bus! He had no idea that his playmates were leaving him!! He’s been a little lost without them. He’s eat me busy. He was entertained all summer long…….not sure how I’m supposed to get anything done. We’re adjusting. Slowly!
And while we adjust…………Mom is learning (somehow I forgot) that I cannot go to the bathroom for 2 minutes…….. Yes, I laughed. I took a picture. And I let him play for a while. It was already on the floor and going in the garbage so I let him play with it. =) I got some laundry switched while he played….Mom Win! He even helped me clean it up with his broom.
It’s going to be a great school year! They are off to a great start. We have so much to be thankful for. I’m treasuring all of these memories. I’m not taking life for granted anymore. Time goes too fast, they grow so quickly. They are only little once. I’m taking it one day at a time and trying to make the most of every second!
Hahaha on the cereal. It always happens while you’re in the bathroom.? Hope everyone had a great first day!! Mom included!
