I bought a sofa table from a neighbor a year ago (yes, a year ago). I liked the look of the table, but knew it needed some TLC. The light blue color was “okay”….Maybe that’s why it wasn’t a priority to get finished. BUT, it’s done and after a slight freak out midway through, I LOVE IT!!!
Before
You guys, I ALWAYS forget to take a before picture. I really need to do better about that. Here’s a “kinda” before . Isn’t it cute? I love the flared leg and the angled corners!
During
Well, the above pic is kinda a before AND a during…… Love that blue/green color. I used Folk Art Chalk Paint in Cascade. I bought mine at JoAnn Fabrics.
I’m gonna let you in on a really awesome JoAnn secret!!! Did you know you can save and additional 15% off your purchase by scanning your receipt after you leave the store?!?! Yep, I use store coupons while I’m there, then scan my receipt after I leave for an extra 15% (sometimes more). If you aren’t using the Ibotta app, you should be. I cash out about $600 every year!!! They also give you $5 just for signing up!
Okay, back to the reason you’re here….the table!!!! I did 2 coats of the Cascade blue.
Let me give you a little chalk paint tip: It separates! Make sure you mix it well or you will end up with a ton of thick gunk in the bottom of the jar. If it has been sitting for a long time, sometimes you actually have to stir it. Shaking just won’t get that gunk to mix.
So, I got it coated with Cascade and left it for a day trying to decide if I was going to do a clear, white, or dark wax. I finally decided that because we have dark wood floors and dark stair railings that dark was best…..then I started to apply and stopped!! COMPLETE FREAK OUT!!!! See below. That’s as far as I got. I pulled it thin, let it dry and buffed. It was SOOOO dark!!! I was certain I was going to have to redo it.
I polled instagram and everyone seemed to think it was okay….really???? I wasn’t sure but decide if I have to redo it anyway, I might as well try the whole thing (or at least the top) first. You all I left just the top done for like 3 days before I finally decided I thought it was going to be okay to go ahead and do the legs
After
My children and the letter board fun…..
I LOVE it!! Thanks to my Instgram friends that didn’t let me freak out and convinced me it was okay!! Happy Friday!!! Make it a great one and stay warm!
