Stitch Fix

I’m sure by now, you’ve all heard of Stitch Fix.  Or at least some form of monthly “subscription box”.  I’ve seen them for everything…..razors, toys, snack food, makeup, jewelry, and clothes (not just for women either).  I didn’t jump on board initially.  Actually, I waited quite a while to try it.  How in the world was someone going to pick clothes for me (the hardest person in the world to fit clothes for)?  These people don’t know me, my style, my body type…….  They finally caught me in a moment of weakness (sleep deprived probably).  I bit the bullet and tried it………. This is actually my 4th fix!!!  I’ve been pleasantly surprised!

How does this work?

You create an account at stitchfix.com.  Now you can have your own personal stylist!  There are several questions that you answer to help your stylist (mine is Holly) learn about your style and your body type.  They also ask if there is anything else they should take into consideration when picking your items.  For example, Holly knows that I’m still nursing.  She knows that dresses are generally out of the question unless they are “easy access”.  My Easter dress she picked worked GREAT!  I had told her what the kiddos were wearing and asked her to send options to coordinate…..WIN!  This time, I told her that I was looking for some “summer casual”.  Each time your box is shipped, they charge a $20 styling fee…..that’s how they get you….  If you choose to keep nothing, you’re out $20.  If you choose to keep just one item, that $20 is credited towards any items you keep from your fix.  Even better, if you choose to keep all 5 items…..25% OFF!!!!

Stitch FixWhen you open your box, you will find it wrapped beautifully.  There may or may not be a helping hand with your box!  There is an envelope with your “bill” and profile cards for each item in your box.  They give you ideas of how to style each piece 2 different ways (usually a more casual and then a more dressed up).  There is also a prepaid priority mail bag to return any items that you don’t want.  Send back the things you don’t like and you are only charged (minus the $20 styling fee) for what you keep!

In my box…..

Let’s start with my least favorite and work our way to my favorite (I’m not sure I have just one this time).  Holly did a great job!

Item #1

Rita Embroidered Tunic ….. by Crescent

This is a stylist FAIL!  It’s cute and it really doesn’t look bad on me.  It is just not me…AT ALL!  Let’s just focus on that sweet little man in the pictures with me.

It is going back!

Item #2

Eileen Honeycomb Texture Knit Tank…..by Pixley

It’s cute, but too big.  The arm holes were huge and I feel like I’m wearing a tent.  I do like the navy and pop of mint green at the shoulders.

It’s going back!

Item #3

Jennet Lace Overlay Split  Back Knit Top…..by Colette

Getting better!  I love this color, the feminine feel of the lace, and the back detail.  I’m wishing the straps were adjustable.

Currently undecided…..

Item #4

Ginger Quilted shoulder Knit Top…… by Loveapella

Here we go!  Holly is speaking my language now!  I love this top!!!  The color combination is amazing!  The shoulder detail adds a little extra fun.  The fabric is oh, so soft!  It’s light enough weight that it can be worn on summer evenings and then into fall and winter.  Cute, casual comfort….Hello perfect Mom clothes!!!!!

Keeping it!

Item #5

Char Geo Print Maxi Skirt …..by Market & Spruce

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this skirt!!!!  Talk about soft and comfortable…WOW!!!  The hem isn’t straight across which gives it a little flair!  AND…..Look what I did….I made it into a dress, too!!!

WINNER!!!!

Keeping it!

So, what are your thoughts on item #3???  Should I keep it or sent it back?  I’ve never taken advantage of the 25% off discount for buying all the items.  I’m going to try this a few more times.  The good thing is, you can cancel at any time and you can schedule your fixes whenever they meet your needs….monthly, every other month, 2x a month…..It’s up to you!

Let me know your thoughts!!  And if you want to try it yourself….well, head on over to Stitch Fix and sign up!  What are you waiting for???

Love the skirt that you made into a dress. I’ve seen several tops like #1, but it isn’t my style either. On #3, if you aren’t totally in love w it, I’d send it back. Have fun!!
