Part 1 – Birthday Cake Smash
Birthday? I’m not really sure how we got here……He was JUST born! Actually, it kinda snuck up on me. It was 2 weeks before his birthday before I realized I hadn’t even thought about a party…….#momfail
I started to stress about a theme, decorations, food, games, favors, and and and……… Then I realized (you’d think I would have realized it before this child), the party is for me not him! He’s not even going to remember it! So, I decided to just wing it! And, do you know what? It turned out just fine!
I decided to make the sweet treats from scratch. I knew I could count on my childhood friend Maria (Two Peas and Their Pod) to help me out! Of course, her recipes didn’t disappoint! The Monster Cookie was AMAZING!!!!! ……well, at least that’s what I was told since I couldn’t eat it (stupid gluten). It was good enough that my big kiddos asked me to make it again after the party……so we did! Only this time, we made them into drop cookies! We also made Cookies and Cream Cupcakes. We cheated and used a box chocolate cake mix…..shhhhh…don’t tell Maria. My Morgan doesn’t like chocolate cake, so she asked if we could make a vanilla cookies and cream cupcake, too. Why not? We followed the exact same recipe (box mix) except this time instead of using chocolate Oreos, we used the vanilla ones. Word on the street is that those were better than the original chocolate recipe!!!! Did I just improve Maria’s recipe? Here’s another secret…..that “dip” I had out with vanilla wafers………it was just leftover frosting and cooked cake crumbles. Basically, it was the frosted cupcakes smashed into mush!!! Delish (or so I hear)!
Enjoy some highlights of the cake smash and the birthday boy! I need to give a huge thanks to my friend, Kari (Petals Gift Shop) for saving my rear and whipping up Dax’s adorable shirt in a day!!!! She’s amazing! I’ll have more details of it later.
Dax wasn’t so sure about the cake….we had to help him out a little.
We love you little man! We cannot wait (yes, we can) to see what God has in store for you!
What a cutie! I am glad you liked the recipes! Happy Birthday!
